Sarah started her creative journey with training in classical ballet and contemporary dance. She studied at the London Studio Centre in London, England, L’Ecole Superieure de Quebec in Montreal and the Banff Centre for the Arts in Banff Alberta. In England, Sarah worked with choreographers David Massingham, Yolande Snaith, Darshan Singh-Bhuller and Maggie Morris. When She returned to Canada, Sarah performed in Fringe theatre production of the Bacchae. Upon her retirement from performing, Sarah produced interactive theatre events in Edmonton Alberta, where she was the director, producer and choreographer for two productions at the Next Generation Festival; “Neverwhere” a Next Fest production for 60 performers, and “Just Push Play” which featured 6 dancers and a video installation.
Sarah has progressed from choreographing contemporary dance productions that include video, to embracing multimedia installation art. Her work incorporates elements of interactivity, welcoming spectators to participate and at times includes moments of confrontation. She incorporates performance with video, music and installation; which engages the viewer to actively participate with her work. Sarah has also explored political topics through video collage, which set out to provide an alternative perspective to world conflicts. Her past work reflects details of personal conflict (such as dealing with type one diabetes) and intimate inhibitions. Her recent work has been in video exploring whimsical moments of colour and musicality. Sarah strives to move her audience.
